President Lincoln's second inaugural address expressed how he felt then as the war was drawing to a close. He spoke of forgiveness and healing. He already knew the war was a few weeks from ending. He said both sides shared the responsibility for the war. He mentioned that people of both sides prayed to the same God. He even was vague about slavery being the true cause of the war.
