Circuit

Electrons flow form the positive end of the battery through the wire connecting the positive terminal to a switch. The other end of the switch is connected to one terminal on the bulb, the other terminal of the bulb is connected to the negative end of the battery. No electrons (current) flows as long as the switch is open. Once the switch is closed and if the battery has enough voltage and current capacity to make the filament in the bulb glow, then the bulb emits light (together with wasted heat). If the switch is open, no current flows through the entire circuit and the bulb does not glow.

What describes electricity flowing from a battery through a switch to a light bulb?

A circuit

How do you prevent electricity?

Your question is unclear. To prevent electricity flowing you open the circuit. This can be done by disconnecting it from the source by a switch, for example. An insulator will also prevent electricity flowing.

How does a trip switch work?

A trip switch is something that u have to flick so the electricity in the curcuit can start flowing

What starts a car?

The ignition switch completes the circuit of electricity from the battery to the starter that actually turn the engine over and starts it.The ignition switch completes the circuit of electricity from the battery to the starter that actually turn the engine over and starts it.

Is an open switch in an electrical circuit to prevent current flow?

Yes, an open switch breaks the circuit and prevents electricity flowing through. A closed switch on the other hand completes the circuit and in turn helps electricity travel through the circuit.

How does a battery powered light work?

The battery chemically stores electricity so when you 'switch on' the light then electricity flows from the battery to the bulb. The bulb the heats up to glow white and the reflector shines the light out of the battery powered light

How does circuit stop flowing when light bulb switch is off?

The simplist answers is that electricity needs to complete a circuit fully. It stops flowing because there is no complete circuit. The switch is a device for opening and closing the circuit. When the switch is in the off position the circuit is said to be open and electricity cannot flow.

What is on off switch?

Say it is a power circuit, a light bulb is bright from the battery, flowing through the wires and the light bulb. There is a switch controling the power that goes through, so if you switched the off switch off, the power will no longer be flowing through(the light bulb wouldn't be bright any longer). What happens when you keep the electricity switch on in the 2014 Nissan Pathfiner?

If you leave the Ingition Switch on without the engine running. The battery will go dead. Then you will have to get a boost or charge the battery to get the engine started.

Is a battery and a copper wire a circut?

No. A circuit must have a switch, a source and something to receive the electricity.

Does electricity flow through a light when the light is turned off?

The OFF position on the light switch interrupts the flow of electricity to the light bulb. If the switch is ON, there is always electricity at the light socket, even when the light bulb is removed. if the lamp is still pluged in electricity is still flowing through the lamp even if it is off or on

Why doesn't a bulb light up until you press the switch?

A switch completes the circuit, allowing electricity to pass from the cell (battery) to the bulb.
