exhaust?
There are 2 heated exhaust gas oxygen sensors , 1 screwed into the outlet on each exhaust manifold on a 1993 Ford Ranger 4.0 L .
Exhaust manifold.
2 1/4 at tailpipe
On the drivers side of the engine near the exhaust manifold.
AnswerFuel is burning in the manifold after leaving the cylinder. Bad plugs or plug wires, too rich a fuel mixture, or overworking the engine with too heavy a load. could also be clogged catalytic converter
Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine in your 3.0 liter Ford Ranger Sensor 1 ( upstream sensor ) is in the exhaust before it enters the catalytic converter ( either in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe )
UNDER HOOD, DRIVER SIDE, LOWER ENGINE AREA, BELOW EXHAUST MANIFOLD FLANGE, MOUNTED IN EXHAUST PIPE.
On your V6 engine : Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine Sensor 1 is in the exhaust pipe ( or exhaust manifold ) before the exhaust enters the catalytic converter ( upstream )
bank 2 is the driver's side of the engine and sensor 1 is close to the engine either in the outlet of the exhaust manifold or in the exhaust pipe (helpfull)
it depends on the engine for exact location, and number of O2 sensors, but on my 01 2.3l ranger there are 2, and they are easy to see. look for the exhaust manifold, and imagine you are traveling towards the back of the truck from the manifold. the first one is right past the manifold, and the second one is just a foot or two past that one. The one closest to the exhaust manifold can be seen from looking in the engine compartment. the second one you have to get under the truck to see. have fun getting them off....
If you are looking for the oxygen sensor, I don't know the exact location, but all oxygen sensors are located on the exhaust. Start looking from the manifold and follow the exhaust. They just screw into the exhaust pipes. Some are located on or close to the cadylac converter.
