Ada Lovelace was the illegitimate daughter of the poet Lord Byron. She married the Count of Lovelace, making her a "Lady" and the Countess of Lovelace.

She became a mathematician and worked with Charles Babbage, the developer of the Analytic Engine (mechanical computer). She wrote a text on the development of instructions for the engine even though Babbage would not publish his ideas until years later. The Analytic Engine was never built until recently.

She was therefore , in a way, the first computer programmer, inventor of the subroutine and a proponent of looping.

Her role in the development of the Difference Engine is not clear. She is often credited with logic involved in its operation if not its construction. Evidence does support her suggestion for the transfer of the existing punch card system of the Jacquard loom as a method of entering data and controlling the devices operation if it were to be built.

Ada Lovelace did not make that darn machine with Charles Babbage but you know what? She sure did explain what it was to the people. So write that down a your little project!

Now if you were to write that on your project dont write it like that write something more like Ada Lovelace explained to the press and people and stuff what the computer and calculator were for Charles Babbage. KK!!! (:

Not sure but Linda "Lovelace" was probably the most iconic porn star in history for her staring roll in Deep Throat in the 1960s. Sorry i know this is no help but the last name conjured up dusty old memories of the Super8 videos my dad thought he had hidden.

When was The Computer Programme created?

The Countess Ada Augusta of Lovelace is usually credited with designing and writing the first computer program. However as the computer it was written for, Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine, was never built this program was largely an academic exercise. The first program for a computer that was actually built was designed in 1944 and ran on the British cryptanalytic computer Colossus. It is unknown who did the work as the entire project was classified and most of the records were destroyed after the war.The first program for a stored program computer (the type that modern computers are), consisting of 17 instructions, was written by Tom Kilburn, and first ran on June 21, 1948 on the Manchester Baby computer.
