∙ 7y agoHis troops mutinied - they had been on a campaign for ten years, and objected going endlessly east following Alexander's dream of conquering endlessly. His men got sick and tired of India. It was constantly raining there, resulting in mouldy clothes, mouldy food, rusted swords, and rusted shields.

∙ 7y agoHis army, after 10 years of marching and fighting, had had enough and mutinied, voting to go home. So the expedition turned back to Babylon. Just as well because King Chandragupta was moving west conquering India, and with 1,000 war elephants, he would easily have over-run Alexander's force.
