Alice Paul led relentless picketing outside of the White House. She herself did not picket as being one of the leaders of the NWP (National Women's Party) was too valuable and could not risk being arrested etc. Many women were arrested on charges of "obstructing traffic" which was bs but the women couldn't do anything about it. Alice Paul soon joined her fellow women and picketed outside the White House, resulting in her arrest. The women picketing outside the White House were often looked down upon and scorned by passing civilians due to their protesting during a war time. Many believed that the protesting women were terrible for not supporting Wilson and brought shame to America. boo yah
Alice Paul asked Woodrow Wilson organized a march on the day of Wilson's inauguration. She led a group of women to picket the White House. She was arrested and put in a workhouse. There she led a hunger strike. Finally Wilson agreed to support women's right to vote. The Nineteenth Amendment was passed in 1920 after the end of World War I.

Women Suffrage movement was a long struggle. The movement finally gained momentum when Carrie Chapman Catt, president of National American Women Suffrage Association (NAWSA) supported the war effort during WW I. This controversial step at that time resulted in portrayal of suffrage movement as a patriotic movement. Her support also made president Woodrow Wilson warm up to the idea of women suffrage. The issue was finally settled when 19th amendment was ratified on August 18, 1920.
Woodrow Wilson was unwilling to compromise with Henry Cabot Lodge, a powerful senator. Without LodgeÕs support, Wilson was unable to obtain a two-thirds majority to ratify the Treaty of Versailles and join the League of Nations.
He faced a few major struggles that he had to overcome during his term including: suffrage movement, World War I (i.e. Germany Submarine Controversy, Going to War), 1913 Mexican Revolution, Support in Congress for the League of Nations, etc.
