The battle was October 5, 1813. William Henry Harrison defeated the British and the Native Americans led by Tecumseh in Canada off of Lake Erie. The American victory meant that the Americans controlled Detroit. Tecumseh was killed and his warriors were disorganized so that there was less worry about a Native American uprising in what is now the state of Michigan.
