Flight instruction, business management and ownership, and NASA employment are what Charles Herbert Flowers (August 8, 1918 - January 28, 2011) did.
Specifically, the North Carolina native instructed African American cadets in aviation for the Army Air Corps in Tuskegee, Alabama. He then put into practice his business administration degree by managing a liquor store and co-owning a drugstore in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He relocated to Glenarden, Maryland, where took a position as electronic technician at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He retired almost 30 years later as the center's employee relations manager.
