∙ 15y agoChristopher Columbus (1451-?) was hoping to find Asia by sailing west toward what is now North and South America. Nobody knew the Americas were there yet. So when Columbus arrived at North America, he thought he had reached Asia. When he died, he still believed that he had reached Asia, but we now know that that wasn't true, he actually had found the Americas!
