Cortes sailed because he was going to search for money. Cortes also wanted new food, climate, and land. And he sailed to Peru. If you asked this question you are probably in Mr. Colburn's class.
In my history book, it says that he sailed under the Spainish flag. I just inferred that answer, so I really don't know for a fact. But I still hope I helped

Pizarro hoped to find wealth, particularly gold, when he embarked on his expeditions to South America. He was also motivated by the desire for fame and power.
This is what I think. He got captured by Francisco Pizarro, and then for Atahualpa's ramson he told Pizarro that he was going to fill a room with a certain height. He told Pizarro to release him when he was done "Deal?" "Deal.". But Pizarro didn't keep his promise. He made a unfair trial and the punishment was death. Hope this helps!

One of his obstacles were the crazy Indians that kept attacking them. His partners left with most of the men because they thought they would need to go back for supplies and they also thought they were doing to much damage. :D hope this helps you...
