After returning from South Africa (1914), he became the leader of a movement against the British rule in India. He led several campaigns by which he emphasised that he/India wants a peaceful solution to the serious problems - that is India wants to be independent (hunger strikes, Salt March, civil disobedience campaigns, Quit India campaign). He cooperated with the British before they achieved independence so that it went without war and violence. (India became independent in 1947.) India had to accept partition, but nevertheless it became independent. Extremist Hundus were unsatisfied with him because he wanted equal rights to the Muslims as well. One of the extremists assassinated him in 1948.
After returning to India, Gandhi became a leader in the Indian independence movement and advocated for nonviolent resistance to British colonial rule. He rallied the Indian population through civil disobedience campaigns such as the Salt March, which contributed to India gaining independence in 1947. Gandhi also worked towards promoting equality, religious harmony, and social justice in India.
Mohandas Gandhi is a/an Lawyer,Anti-Colonial Nationalist,Political Ethicist
Gandhi exemplified power through his philosophy of nonviolent resistance, which he used to challenge and bring down colonial rule in India. By inspiring and mobilizing the masses through peaceful protest and civil disobedience, Gandhi demonstrated how moral courage and persistence can be a powerful force for change. His ability to influence without resorting to violence showcases a different, but effective form of power.
India gained independence from British colonial rule in 1947 primarily due to the strong movement for independence led by figures such as Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian National Congress. The British Empire's weakening after World War II and increasing pressure from the Indian independence movement also played a significant role in decolonization.
Gandhi threatened to carry out the Salt March, also known as the Salt Satyagraha, in protest of the British salt monopoly in India in 1930. This act of civil disobedience involved marching to the Arabian Sea to collect salt from the ocean, in defiance of British laws.
Both Gandhi and Stalin were influential leaders in their own right, but their leadership styles were vastly different. Gandhi is often remembered for his nonviolent approach to achieving social and political change, while Stalin was known for his authoritarian rule and the use of violence to maintain power. Ultimately, the determination of who was a better leader is subjective and dependent on individual perspectives.
