King George VI and his wife Queen Elizabeth, together with their children Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, remained living at Buckingham Palace in London during World War 2 although it was targeted many times by German bombers and hit more than once. The fact that the King and Queen remained in London throughout the bombing, helped to boost the morale of the population who were also being bombed.
