Leonardo's journals include a vast number of inventions, both practical and impractical. They include Musical Instruments, hydraulic pumps, reversible crank mechanisms, finned mortar shells, and a steam cannon. He also was facinated with flight and invented a glider (which has been built and proven) and a helicopter but his design wasn't able to provide substantial lift. Also, in 1502 he developed blue prints for a 750 foot bridge to cross the golden horn in Istanbul, but it was declined. Then in 2001 a smaller bridge based on his design was built in Norway, and on may 17th of 2004 his bridge was constructed over the golden horn in Istanbul. Hope this helps.
