He supported freedom fighters and protestors who were fighting against Communism.

Reagan told the Russian leaders to tear down the Berlin Wall. He was a product of his generation and wanted an end to Communist Russia. In 1989 the Berlin Wall did come down. Soon after the Eastern European block controlled by Russia began to come apart.
