they had a special part in the early years of the united states of America. Thomas Paine wrote a fifty page pamphlet called "common sense". It was written to persuade people to become patriots. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. And John Adams was one of the men who were sent to represent America in getting the treaty of Paris signed.
