The Tudor Dynasty is amazing.
After the War of the Roses with the Yorks and the Lancasters, the Tudor Dynasty began with
King Henry VII--he had 2 sons: Arthur & Henry VIII (Arthur died)
King Henry VIII bethrothed Arthur's fiancee Princess Catherine of Aragon who was from Spain and they had little Princess Mary Tudor.. King Henry VIII loved Catholic Doctrine, but he was obsessed with the idea that he needed a Son & Catherine could not have any children because of old age, so he was forced to go against the Catholic church to Anull (divorce) the marriage to marry the playful Anne Boleyn who promised him a son...Henry became head of the church through the Act of Supremacy and introduced a spark of the Anglican Protestan church, but practiced Catholic Doctrine secretly. Anne failed and gave him yet another daughter named Princess Elizabeth Tudor, Henry beheaded Anne and married a third wife Jane Seymour who finally gave him a son named Prince Edward VI, Jane died during childbirth..He had more wives after, but Mary, Elizabeth, and Edward were his only three children: Henry declared his line-of-succession:
Edward VI- He was the FIRST TRUE protestant King of the Anglican Church, but died at a young age, Henry was never REALLY protestant he had to become protestant to divorce and marry other women for a son.
Mary I- Mary was 1/2 spanish & she was SUPER-catholic, she exceuted 500 protestants and bought back Catholic doctrine to England, but died of old age. (Known as Bloody Mary)
Elizabeth I-The last Tudor heir was protestant and was known as a 'politique'- Elizabeth was known to be England's Greatest Queen as she was well-educated being able to speak about 5 languages fluently, she loved art, and was very flirtatious--England triumphed greatly during her rule of 40 years...She declared to never marry and so no Tudor heir was left---She named her nephew King James I of Scotland as King of England and she died leaving a considerable amount of debts behind. (Known as the Virgin Queen).
