Astronomy was not invented in ancient Egypt- at the time, it was all part of Astrology, much of which came originally from other cultures (the Babylonians, Sumerians and Mesopotamians being the largest contributors) and, as far as we can determine from Archaeology, had been part of Egyptian culture going back to it's earliest days, around 5000 BCE.
