Fidel Castro (born August 13, 1926) was the President, and de facto dictator of Cuba from 1959 to 2008. He is currently still head of the Communist party of Cuba, but his younger brother Raul bagan acting as President in 2006. In a popular revolution against the Dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, Castro turned the Caribbean island of Cuba into a Communist state. He and his supporters were long financed by the former Soviet Union, and retained power despite an embargo by the United States. The regime was mainly known for their expropriation of the private industries developed by foreign companies under Batista.

He took away their freedom of choice, their freedom of religion, their freedom of speech, he turned a very prosperous country into a communist state. He did implement a national free health care plan, payed with the resources stolen by the socialist state, and children are educated in the field they show an aptitude for (they can not choose for themselves). Also the healthcare program is not optional and the quality of medicine for the common people is inferior to the medicine given to the party leaders.

Health and education are two positive things about fidel's regime, right.

But a characteristic of dictatorships is that they ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING GOOD.

Hitler built expressways and eliminated unemployment in Germany. Musolini made train to function on time.

Both eliminated the organized crime in their countries.
