The really BIG contribution of the Phoenicians was the alphabet. It's been refined, but it is basically the same alphabet we in the West use. Also, in a round about way, they helped Rome to expand its territories and wealth. Carthage was a city fouded by the Phoenicians, and when the Romans won the Punic wars, they took over all Carthage's territories and the wealth that came with them.
