Sailors used to eat raw substances. E.g, stale bread, Oranges and water.

Sailors didn't eat any dairy because there weren't any refrigerators in those times so all dairy would go off.

Sailors also used to eat biscuits and apples, but they had to be careful because sometimes maggots lived inside the biscuits and mainly the apples!

0n the two flesh days (Sunday and Thursday)

6oz of bacon and 2oz of rice

Monday and Tuesday

6oz of cheese and 3oz of beans or chick peas

on the three 'fish' days

6oz of tunny or co, 6oz of squid or sardines, 3oz of beans or chick peas 1 1/2oz oil and a pint of vinegar

every man was allowed 11/2lbs of biscuits per day and approx one bottle of wine

But the special barrels (treated with wax and spices and took two years to make) on the armada were taken by English pirates! that meant lots of the food had to be put in raw, unseasoned tubs. that turned a lot of it bad before the armada even set sail! In sort, sailors had a terrible time with the rotten food! TROLLOLOLOLOL!

What happened to the side that won in the Spanish Armada?

The English were the victors in the Spanish Armada. But only Francis Drake and Lord Howard were allowed back to England. The rest of the English sailors were left in their ships to die. This was because the government knew they would have to pay a lot of money for sailors reward. After 1 year only half of the English sailors were still alive.

What were the dates of spanish Armada?

the Spanish armada officially started when the ships set sail from Spain in July 1588. it officially ends when Sir Francis Drake and other senior commanders defeated them in the same month. they armada had to sail around Scotland and stopped in Ireland looking for refuge, the Irish attack the Spanish sailors and only 67 ships out of the original 130 made it back to Spain. because food supplies were so short, the sailors had to revert into eating rope for survival.

How was the armada defeated?

The English believed the Spanish Armada was defeated because the English had better supplies and sailors and so on. The Spanish believed it was defeated because of the weather - it was very windy and there was a massive storm at the time as well (that couldn't have helped them). In my opinion I believe it was a bit of both.
