In the Treaty of Ghent, the British and Americans agreed to very little. The British wanted disarmament on the Great Lakes, some regions of New England, and the creation of a buffer zone in the manner of an Indian Country between Canada and the US. The Americans wanted all of Canada and reparation for the destruction of goods by the British Army in the Battle for Washington. Both sides dropped these requests and decided to settle for "Status Antebellum" or the returning of borders to their original places before the war started.
