They built the pyramids themselves as tombs to their Pharaohs. If you looked at all the pyramids from a birds eye view, (from the sky) you would see that they positioned the pyramids just right so that they would chart the sun.
i think that pyramids were based on the nature,mainly for example they worshipped sun,the RA..moreover they believed that there existed a life after death..
