The 1st amendment was completed December 15, 1791, stating, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The First Amendment "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." This amendment gave us a lot of the freedoms we have today. Without this, Americans would not have as many rights as they have today. It gave us freedom of speech, religion, press and the right to petition peacefully.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This means that the Congress, or legislative branch of the US, has no right to make a law depriving people of benefits just because of their religion, and that no government sponsored religion shall be created.

Also, people living in the US have a right for freedom of speech - they should be able to criticize the government without receiving harm. Any denial of this will be an infringement of the First Amendment.

Also, there is freedom of the press - which means that basically a magazine/newspaper/any type of press can publish anything, as long as it is not slanderous or libelous.Another part of it explains that the people can peacefully assemble, and petition the government if there is something about the US that they don't like.
