Ales and beers were consumed by everyone ( including children) in the colonies. This replaced water many times so every person every day drank 4 pints of ale. Whiskey was also popular. George Washington is reported to have produced one of the finest whiskeys in the colonies. Wine was also served with meals. The traditions of tea and coffee also came with the colonist .
