transfercase gears you would need 4.9:1 Gears is recommended or about a 115% reduction. they only make 4.57 and 5.38 Ring & Pinion Gears wich is a 23% and 44% reduction. isn't enough so trasnfercase reduction is the way to go.I have 6.5:1 187%and it is about perfect for 31" but anything larger and i would have to go more.
bearings or diff. gears worn out.
You don't NEED any gearing changes to run 31's. I run 33's with all stock drivetrain and engine. you wont have 5th gear....but also your fourth gear will make up for it. for instance when my speedo reads 60mph on the freeway I'm actually going 75 and 60 in fourth is a little high on the rpms but its fine if its not for long periods of time. I am however upgrading my ring and pinion gears to 4.57s with 6.5 transfer case gears n then 5th gear will be back to normal and off road power will be insane =)
the linkage to the diff lock pedal could be siezed/stiff that's if it even has a diff lock also the spider gears in the diff unit could be damaged causing the diff to lock up
It would have 3.73 gears in it
diff sizes for front and rear.
if its whiny gears, banana skins,, seriously,, but it wont last long, & its not really that good for the diff. if its bearings,, lots of grease, but again, only a very temporary fix! if its the gears, they need to be re-hardened, its often cheaper to get a second hand diff head. or new gears. if its the bearings, replace them.
If you are talking about a diff. A mini spool replaces the planetary gears in the diff centre. A full spool replaces the whole centre except the crown wheel.
No, but they can effect handling, braking, ride, mileage, and the accuracy of your speedometer.
Lack of oil or worn gears. Hope this helps, B Pacie
that is the tone wheel pickup for the RWAL rear wheel antilocking brake system
weld up planet gears more you weld the better just to stop them from turning, dont recommend for road use though!!!
Your tires will wear faster, and you will put pointless strain on your drive shafts. Depending on what type of diff you have that too might wear faster. The car will handle poorer during sharp corners on good surfaces.
