Many people wonder what the comparison is between Islam vs. Christianity. While there are a few similarities between Islam and Christianity, such as a belief in moral living and doing good to others, nevertheless, Muslims and Christians have vastly different views on major points of ideology and theology. First and foremost are the differing perceptions of Jesus, the Christ. Islam readily accepts that Jesus of Nazareth existed and that He was born of the virgin, Mary. Islam teaches that Jesus was merely another prophet, equal to and following in the line of Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Moses. Muslims believe that Muhammad is the final messenger, superior to all previous prophets, the ultimate. Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God, which as the Jews accused of old, makes Him equal to God. He is accepted as the Second Person of the Trinity, God Himself come to earth in the flesh.

Islam vs. Christianity - What are the major differences?

Islam, a name given by Allah to this religion (Quran 5:4), is an Arabic word which literally means obedience and peace. ISLAM is derived from the Arabic root "SALEMA": peace, purity, submission and obedience. So 'Islam' would mean the path of those who are obedient to Allah and who establish peace with Him and His creatures. Its follower are called Muslims.

Islam believe in all Prophets.Holy Quran says "[2:254]These messengers have We exalted some of them above others; among them there are those to whom Allah spoke; and some of them He exalted in degrees of rank. And We gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear proofs and strengthened him with the spirit of holiness. And if Allah had so willed, those that came after them would not have fought with one another after clear Signs had come to them; but they did disagree. Of them were some who believed, and of them were some who disbelieved. And if Allah had so willed, they would not have fought with one another; but Allah does what He desires."

What do Islam believe about Jesus Christ?

Islam says that he was a prophet. He didnt die on cross. He was saved from cross. He then migrate to Kashmir,India. His tomb is located there.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DXCZFRsyl8).Holy Quran says "[3:145] And Muhammad is but a messenger. Verily all Messengers have passed away before him. If then he dies or is slain, will you turn back on your heels? And he who turns back on his heels shall not harm Allah at all. And Allah will certainly reward the grateful."

The reading and quoting of scriptures alone does NOT make you a more holy person, you've got to understand and implement it in your life.God must live through you so people can see him at work through you.

What do Christian believe about Jesus?

Jesus was born a Jew. He taught the old laws and didnt change them but taught them in the way that they were intended for us by God.(an eye for an eye became turn the other cheek) The old Jewish teachers didn't like his teachings and so turned on him.

Christians believe that Jesus was the Son of God and that through him dying on the cross and shedding his blood (the ultimate sacrifice) he saved us from our sins with God.And now we can do whatever we want and we will go to Heaven(? Silly comment as Christians are fully aware that they too will be judged on what they have done throughout their lives). So first of all i will ask them How can be Jesus son of God,God don't have any wife? Was Mary her wife? When did God married to her? (again, a very silly comment from a human being who cannot possibly think in the same way as God)

Jesus was born of emmaculate conception,(the Holy spirit placed him in Mary's womb, not Joseph)

There is a book written by Our Promised Messiah Jesus in India (Maybe that is where the Muslim faith started, through that story?) (http:/www.alislam.org/library/books/Jesus-in-India/index.HTML).It is realy great book. You will find proof from your own bible or New Testament that Jesus didnt de on cross, but he died as natural death at the age of 120 in Kashmir,India.(untrue)

The facts about Jesus' life are quite clearly explained in the bible, along with the fact that he will return one day, that's right JESUS and NOT Muhammed. Why ,if he is only a mere prophet??? Islam follows all the old prophets the same as in the Old Testament.Jesus was and is the new message why do they not accept what is written of him?

Another believe of Christian that they say there is 2 God. First of All if there is 2 God how can be there 2 God? If one God wanted to do another thing and another wanted to do another thing, so they will start fighting, then how will world run. (foolish talk from a person that clearly has NO understanding of the Christian faith) Confused by the concept of 'The trinity'. That is God The Father ,The son and The Holy spirit.

God, as in The almighty one, The son, Jesus who was from God and had God in him and The Holy spirit, the 'essence' of God.

Jesus and the good news that he brought (eternal life through following him to God) must seem TOO good to be true, that's why people are suspicious!
all religions are similar in they all believe in a afterlife. They all believe that goodness, faith, worship will all be rewarded in the afterlife. It is the basic principle of all religion, the key being life after death and the premise that good conquers evil and the good is rewarded with eternal happiness.

Answer A (Christian view)While Christians and Muslims both believe in God, they practice differently.

For example: Muslims pray five times a day. Christians pray whenever prayer is needed and also at church.

Muslims practice the Five Pilliars, Shahada (professing faith), Salah (praying), Sawm (fasting during Ramadhan), Zakat (Giving alms, especially during Ramadhan), and Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca).

Christians also give alms to their churches, but from my understanding that is anytime in the season, although Muslims practice Zakat anytime as well.

Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God!!!!!!! As a Christian I worship the Alpha and Omega God, the creator of everything who was and is and is to come. The one true God who came and dwelt among us in a human body through his son Jesus and who died for the sins of all mankind if they would only believe in him. The Muslims believe that Jesus was only a prophet and not God's son. Since the Muslim's God Allah is absolutely not the one true God then our beliefs are, of course, different.

Answer B (Muslims View) The main differences are:
  1. Islam is God religion per Quran revelation to Prophet Muhammad. Christianity is God's religion according to the revelations throughout The Bible.
  2. Muslims believe that Jesus is one of the greatest God prophets and messengers. Some Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God; some others believe that Jesus is himself divine. Some other Christians believe he is human and neither God nor son of God.
  3. Muslims believe in all prophets including prophet Muhammad and Jesus. Christians do not believe in the Prophet Muhammad.
  4. Muslims believe in all God holy books including Quran and the Bible, but they do not accept the authority of the Bible. Christians do not believe in the Quran as inspired scripture.
  5. Muslims believe that Jesus was not crucified and just his likeness was thrown by God on another one who was crucified. Christians believe that Jesus was crucified as described in the Bible.
  6. Muslims believe that every one is responsible for his deeds (good or sinful) in front of God in the Day of Judgment and that those made net good deeds will be rewarded, by God mercy, with entering the Paradise while those who made net bad deeds, unless forgiven by God, will be punished by being pushed in Hell fire. Christians believe that all men and women are responsible for their sins and all deserve eternal damnation. Jesus' sacrifice made it possible for some to enter heaven through God's mercy, and not based on their own merit.

Hint: the above shows that both religions are different only in some

faith issues that are regarding the relationship between yourself and your God which is a matter to be resolved by God on the Day of Judgment. However, both religions are quite similar in all issues regarding relationships among all people. In reality, there are no differences between the two religions regarding the way that people of different religions should treat each other. This, logically and spiritually, calls all people to live together in love, peace, and harmony regardless their different religions or beliefs.(

Christians and Muslims both believe in the old testament. According to Muslim belief the bible was changed by priests, but the Qu'ran was never changed. In Muslim belief Jesus is not the son of god, but a prophet. God does not have no children, nor wife, or parents. He is one and the only. Jesus is a prophet. Moses is a prophet. Muhammed is a prophet, Noah is a prophet, Abraham is a prophet. Allah is not a name it means god.

The reason why it has similar beliefs is because Mohammed copied the Bible. Islam was made 600 years after Christ.

Why do Christians dispise Muslims?

Personal opinion here. I as a Christian do not hate Muslims. I do not agree with their beliefs but that is what separates the different religions. We have different beliefs. I in no way condone the actions of radical Muslim groups or any group that wishes to destroy those that do not hold to their beliefs. The Nazi's did this during WW2.
