The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. This is, of course, apparent motion and not true motion.
the sun travels to an east and west direction. An easier way to remember is that the sun travels in an EWW direction.the E stands for east and the W stands for west and the secound W is nothing.

The sun doesn't actually go anywhere, apart from continuing it's path, orbiting the center of the Milky Way Galaxy.

The Sun doesn't set - the Earth is rotating on its own axis and gives the appearance of the sun setting (in the West, btw).

it rises on the other side of the world.

The sun is at the center of our solar system, so for all intents and purposes, it is not the one that is moving, but it is the planets that move. This is called revolving around the sun.

As the Earth revolves around the sun, it also rotates. It is this rotation that gives us the illusion of the sun rising and setting.

An example is traveling in a car, train, or plane when they are going at a steading speed. When you look out the window, the scenery looks like it is moving and you feel like you are standing still. Of course, you know that you are the one that is moving, so the illusion of the houses and trees going by doesn't cause you to become confused about what is happening. Your logical mind tells you that houses and trees do not move. It is the same with the sun rising and setting. It is no0t moving, but we, in our vehicle called Earth, are moving in a circle around the sun and spinning.

actually, the sun does not really "set". Since the earth spins, some parts are facing the sun, while others are not. For example, if you lived in Cleveland, Ohio, and you were about to go to bed, you wouldn't see the sun. But there probably would be sun in Hong Kong, because the earth is positioned so Hong Kong faces the sun, while Cleveland does not. So really, the sun setting is just the earth spinning so that the place where you live does not face the sun. But some other place has the sun facing it. While it is day for you, it is night for them. The sun setting is just the earth spinning so that wherever you live is not facing the sun.

Around 21 March and 23 September, the setting sun is almost due west. However, the direction in which the sun sets changes from day to day. If you watch sunsets from the same location for a year, you'll observe the sun setting a little further towards the south each day between 21 June and 21 December, and a little further towards the north each day between 21 December and 21 June. Around 21 June, the sunsets is furthest to the north, and around 21 December it is furthest towards the south

Aside from that though, most people just say the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Interesting stuff though.

The Sun rises from the east and sets in the west due the the clockwise (as seen from the Earth looking down) rotation. Venus, on the other hand has an opposite rotation where the Sun rises in the west and sets in the east.

Sunsets have their origin in the rotation of the earth. From where you stand, the sunset is the terminator, the line dividing night and day sweeping westwards across your home.

Actually, it never goes down, because it is always shines somewhere all aroud the world. In Europe it 'goes down' in the west (and rises in the east).
