Buddhists strive to achieve enlightenment which removes pain from their lives by eliminating desire. Enlightenment also presents the opportunity escape the cycle of death and rebirth to participate in Nirvana a self or ego-free existence. This is an opportunity not a given as Mahayana Buddhism proposes that the enlightened would forgo Nirvana to return to be reborn into the cycle of death and rebirth to enable or aid others to become enlightened
Nirvana or spiritual enlightenment is what Buddhist's strive to reach.
Literally, the answer to this is nothing. Learn to stop seeking so that the truth of things can make itself obvious.
Strive to achieve or reach.
There are many reasons. In my opinion, the main reason is that the precepts ensure practitioners adhere to a highly moral and ethical lifestyle that promotes a calm and peaceful mind essential for Buddhist practice. The reason this is important to Buddhists is that Buddhists strive to reach higher states of consciousness, and your day to day lifestyle, as well as your actions, can impact heavily on whether or not you will achieve these states of consciousness. So basically the precepts allow for the mind to be shaped in a manner necessary to reach advanced states of consciousness. They also ensure monks do not get distracted with material and sensual activities that hinder them from progressing with their development. The most obvious being refraining from taking intoxicants as they inhibit the mind where Buddhist seek to develop the mind.
Buddhists aim to treat all beings with compassion and respect, regardless of their differences. Discrimination goes against the concept of interconnectedness and the principle of non-harming taught in Buddhism. Buddhists strive to overcome personal biases and prejudices through mindfulness and understanding the equality of all beings.
The set of rules that Buddhists follow is called the Five Precepts. These are moral guidelines that Buddhists strive to uphold in order to live a virtuous life. They include refraining from harming living beings, stealing, sexual misconduct, false speech, and consuming intoxicants.
Enlightenment is a state of relative and absolute happiness, this state is the goal of many Buddhists.
No, because "strive" is a verb. You can strive to do something, or strive towards a goal, but you can't have "strive". Might I suggest replacing strive with "steadfastedness"?
In the Buddhist religion, Nirvana is the state of eternal bliss and liberation from the cycle of birth and death. It is the ultimate goal that individuals strive to attain through enlightenment and spiritual practice.
Buddha only idenitifed the way to enlightenment. There is nothing to stop a person from independently reaching the same conclusions, in which case he or she could strive for enlightenment without ever hearing of the Buddha. Unlike Christianity where Jesus is necessary for salvation, the Buddha is not a required belief for enlightenment in Buddhism. As Zen Biddhists put it,"If you meet the Buddha on the road- kill him.".
"My soul is whole when I reach my goal." "Set the bar high, don't be shy, aim for the sky." "Success unfolds when perseverance takes its hold." "In the game of life, strive to thrive and strive."
The Three Jewels are, The Buddha, The Dharma and and Sangha. The Buddha brought to us the teachings (Dharma) on how to lead a happy life. The Sangha is the collective of Buddhists who study together and help each other to reach enlightenment, which is the goal of all Buddhists.
well i guess seeing as so many people strive to reach it and i hope there is a way out of the endless birth and rebirth cycle.
People who believe in Buddha are commonly called Buddhists. They practice Buddhism
