Who could forget the gym leaders and it always has the elite four

There is also the story line, if you read the manga you see that the games are based of the mangas. All of the trainers are inspired by red. Also you always have a rival. ~Riack~:p

Cloud, Sephiroth, Leon (Squall), Yuffie, Aerith (Aeris), Tidus, Wakka, Selphie, and Cid appear in Kingdom Hearts 1. Yuna, Payne, and Riku also appear in Kingdom Hearts 2. All of the Kingdoms Hearts spells appear in Final Fantasy except Magnet. Most of the usable Kingdom Hearts items are also in Final Fantasy. The Sephiroth theme song One Winged Angel appears in the Sephiroth fights in Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. In addition, both series have the same musical composer.

-----

Final Fantasy characters are in the Kingom Hearts games. Since the Kingdom Hearts games' main characters (not including Donald/Goofy) Sora, Riku, and Kairi have sort of a manga style that's similar to the Final Fantasy characters, several of the characters from Final Fantasy (particularly FFVII and FFX) were featured in the game (including Cloud Strife, Leon (Squall), Aerith, Tidus, Wakka, Cid, Yuffie, Tifa, Sephiroth, Setzer, Auron, etc.).

Originally, in KH I, Riku, Kairi, and Sora are on an island with the FFX characters (on Destiny Islands) and run into the FFVII in a town called Twilight Town. In KH II and KH:Chain of Memories, the characters from FFVII are in a town called Hollow Bastion AKA Radiant Garden. Also in KH II, there is a character from on of the FFs named Setzer who is really good at a championship called "Struggle". Seifer and his goons (Rai, Fuu, Vivi) weren't in Final Fantasy. Setzer, who has been the Struggle champion title holder several years, comes from a "foreign land" and battles both Seifer's gang and Hayner's gang in the Struggle competion.

In KH II, in the Underworld from the Disney movie "Hercules", he releases the soul of a character name "Auron" (who has been a standing character of the Final Fantasy series in several of the games, including FFX) to fight in the Championship against Hercules. However, Auron eventually comes to help Sora's party. Also in KH II three fairies appear to spy on the Hollow Bastion Committee for Maleficent (the antagonist). The fairies' names are Yuna, Rikku, and Paine, which are representations of the (non-fairie) major-minor characters in FFX.

And...I believe that's all. I agree with the opinion above that "In order to get enough people to play a Disney RPG [Role Playing Game], they added Final Fantasy characters." Plus, by adding these characters, the plot was thickened

In terms of a plot line, the Final Fantasy games don't coincide with each other at all throughout the entire Final Fantasy series.

In separate however, there are a few of the games from the Final Fantasy series that have had further installments, i.e:

-Final Fantasy VII + Crisis Core + Dirge of Ceberus + Advent Children.

(Shinra, Cloud plotline)

-Final Fantasy X + Final Fantasy X2

(Yuna and Tidus plotline)

However there are a few other games by Square that link some of the popular characters into another plot all together, i.e:

Kingdom Hearts 1 + 2, featuring characters such as Squall, Cloud, Yuna and Wakka, etc.

Also, i think there is a new platform combat game where the 'good guys' from the Final Fantasy series fight against the 'bad guys' from the series and they all coincide with each other there.

I may change this later if i can think of anything else.

In either the Final Fantasy series or the Kingdom Hearts series which character wielded the Gun Blade?

Squall (Leon) Leonhart wielded the gunblade in kingdom hearts and final fantasy VIII.

Is squall Leonheart dead?

No, he does not die, meaning that he is not dead. He's even a character in Kingdom Hearts. Very rarely (except for Aerith) are the Final Fantasy characters that show up in Kingdom Hearts dead in the Final Fantasy games. I think that Aerith is the only one who is dead in Final Fantasy, but is alive in Kingdom Hearts.

Why can't Kingdom Hearts graphics be like Final Fantasy?

Kingdom Hearts is purposefully trying for a disney aesthetic. The charm of the series is seeing Final Fantasy characters rendered as if they were Disney characters.
