In this day and age, she is too old for a spank.
Try other methods of disciplining teenagers, such as grounding them. Explain why you are doing so, tell them why you are concern about their attitudes, do not inflict humiliating punishment.

Either way you are starting to dig a hole that neither of you may get out of.Perhaps you should consider professional counselling for anger management for the family or to discover what the underlying problems.
