The psalms were meant to be sung, so they tell us more about Jewish worship and belief than about God himself. A discussion in Psalms and Practice (edited by Stephen Breck Reid) defined a psalm as devotional singing, but a singing that goes beyond the song; the psalms preach, teach and pray and are both song and poetry. Some quite early psalms depict God as the chief God in a pantheon of lesser gods - for example Psalm 82, "God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods." Others depict him variously as merciful, vengeful and just. Each psalm is different.
Among many other things, the Psalms tell us that God hears us, and gives recompense according to our deeds.
psalms tell god whatever they are feeling, sorrow, fear, anger, joy. it is just showing you that you should tell god everything
Because God knows that idols are worthless (Psalms 115).
Psalms 46:10 It says "Be still, and know that I am God. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress."
The Psalms scroll contained praises to God. These Psalms of praise were done by David who was said to be a man after God's own heart.
The book of Psalms in the Holy Bible has many Psalms written By King David. Some of the psalms were written by different people, though. The book of Psalms is in the Old testament - about the middle of the Bible.
The Psalms provide a range of emotions expressed through poetry, allowing readers to connect with various feelings such as joy, sorrow, anger, and praise. By reading and meditating on the Psalms, individuals can find comfort, encouragement, and a sense of solidarity in knowing that their emotions are shared by others. The Psalms also offer prayers and reflections that can guide individuals in processing and expressing their emotions in a healthy and constructive way.
