Depending on the variation of the Adder and the locality, Adders have very distint black and yellow triangle or diamond markings which run from head to tail. Adders also have quite a broad head too compared to other snakes.
Adders are also venomous snakes meaning their bite could possibly be fatal, although it must be said that the Adder in general is a well behaved snake who would prefere to flee rather than attack.
Hope this helps,

You should look at the head. If the head from above it a "heart" shape its poisonous. If its head is the same width as most of the body or "Straight" Its not poisonous. From the side view a poisonous snake has a "triangle" nose. Nonpoisonous snakes have a round nose. Also all you have to do is do very little research on google on places like that to find out.
Eels look like snakes. Orcas don't look like snakes.
Horse Snakes look like that because there head is theshape of the horse

by making it look like a poisonous snake.by making itself look like a poisonous snake
Red and yellow kill a fellow, red and black, venom lack. Also, look at the pupils. If the pupils are shaped like a cat's, real ovally, then it's poisonous. If it's round like a humans, it's okay. May be a primitive method, but I think that it works. Also, if you can see the snakes pupils, you are way to close, and should probably back away from it.

Snakes such as the rattle snake and other of its kind inhabit the desert. King and coral snakes are very common as well but the king is not deadly while the coral snake is. There are many other snakes that live in the desert look it up on a zoo site.
Go to your library and look up reptiles. Conversely, try an online search for snakes, follow a few links and make notes.
