It is just called Christmas Eve in Scotland.

Christmas eve is the evening before Christmas day. Some people celebrate on Christmas eve, and others wait until Christmas morning. It's mostly just a matter of choice.
Yes, most people stay in they're country when it is Christmas Eve to get ready for christmas instead of spending their Christmas Eve flying to a different country.
Christmas Eve is called "La Noche Buena".
Christmas Eve, if not before that and all the little children go to sleep and people put presents under their Christmas tree and when they wake up they get gifts.
No [Edit] Hogmanay, or the New Year, was traditionally of far more importance in Scotland than Christmas Day. My late grandfather was Scottish and he always used to tell us that he had to go to school on Christmas Day itself, not just Christmas Eve. This would have been around 1900. Christmas Day did not become a public holiday in Scotland until 1958. Compare the situation in England, where New Year's Day did not become a public holiday until 1974.
The best day to have a Christmas party, if its between Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, is definitely Christmas Eve - you can have it in the evening then, and it's more enjoyable, more will come. On Christmas Day, most people are with family, or opening presents, and if it'll be in the evening, Christmas might even be forgotten. Most people would want to spend the day with family/presents. Christmas Eve is much better!
Christmas eve is not a holiday on Christmas is a holiday so Christmas Eve is the day before Christmas you can't celebrate Christmas eve its not a holiday
