Rainforests are often home to indigenous hunter-gatherers or to subsistence farmers, who grow food for themselves and their families.

Many other people work in the rainforests, clearing them for timber, sometimes illegally, or to make way for large plantations. Some people hunt animals like pigs, monkeys, etc to sell in town. This is usually illegal hunting, or poaching.

Many people travel to the rainforest, however, for adventure and to experience the beauty of nature, while scientists go there to study the many plants and animals.
