The word messiah is the anglicised version of the Hebrew 'moshiach'. Moshiach literally means anointed and was a title given to any person who was properly anointed with oil as part of their initiation to their service of HaShem (The Creator). Historically, we had many valid meshichim (pl): kings, priests, prophets, judges. There is a prophecy of a future moshiach; however, there is nothing supernatural about him, he'll be a religious Jew who will lead the country of Israel. The idea of the moshiach is a relatively minor subject in Judaism.

Answer:The messiah (mashiach) will lead the Ingathering of the Jews, will rebuild the Temple, will begin an era in which everyone serves God, and will put an end to all wars.

The word "messiah" is the transliterated form of the Hebrew "moshiach." The word moshiach translates to "anointed." The title of moshiach was given to any person who was appropriately anointed with oil as part of their initiation to their service of God. We have had many meshichim (plural) in the form of kings and priests. There is absolutely nothing supernatural about a moshiach.
This being said, there is a prophecy of a future moshiach; however, this is a relatively minor topic in Judaism and the Tanach.
The Jewish requirements of the messiah are:
* Build the Third Temple (Ezekiel 37:26-28)
* Gather all Jews back to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 43:5-6)
* Usher in an era of world peace, and end all hatred, oppression, suffering and disease. As it says: "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall man learn war any more." (Isaiah 2:4)
* Spread universal knowledge of the God of Israel, which will unite humanity as one. As it says: "God will be King over all the world. On that day, God will be One and His Name will be One." (Zechariah 14:9)
* The messiah must be descended on his father's side from King David (Genesis 49:10 and Isaiah 11:1)
* The messiah will lead the Jewish people to full Torah-observance. The Torah states that all of its mitzvot (commands) remain binding forever.

Jewish people believe that Jesus Christ wasn't the real Messiah and they are still waiting for the Messiah. They believe that Jesus was a fake Messiah. How can the Jews be God's chosen people if they reject Jesus as their Savior?

Jewish people worship the same god as Christians do. Why don't the Jewish people still do sacrifices if they don't believe the messiah has come?

The Jews do not have a Temple in which to carry out their rituals. The Tanach (Jewish Bible) specifies that prayer replaces sacrifice when the Temple is not standing.Additionally, one of the prophecies of hamoshiach is that he will build the third Temple at which time sacrifice will be reinstated.(Please note that the Christian concept of messiah doesn't exist in Judaism.)

What made Jews believe that they were messiah?

Jews do not believe they personally are the messiah. Rather, Jews believe they were chosen to introduce ethical monotheism (the belief in one God) to a pagan and polytheistic world. When Judaism emerged as a religion, it was in fact the first to promote the worship of only one Deity. In the Hebrew Bible (what Christians refer to as the "Old Testament" and Jews call the Tanakh), it says that God (whom Muslims call Allah) will send the messiah, but it does not say when this will occur. Since the idea of a promised messiah can be found in the Hebrew Bible, it is not surprising that some people believe he will be Jewish.Christians believe Jesus (who was in fact Jewish) was the promised messiah, but Jews do not agree with this. Jews believe the messiah has not come yet, and they do not believe Jesus did what the messiah was supposed to do. So Jews wait for the messiah, who will be sent when God decides to send him. What religion the messiah will be is up to God; but the Bible clearly states that in the final days, there will be no more prejudice and everyone will unite to worship the one God together.
