Protestants are Christians and there are many different denominations. Some of their beliefs are different from Catholics (most Protestants accept divorce and believe it is acceptable to use Birth Control, for example). In order to better answer this question, we would need to know which denomination you are asking about: Unitarians, for example, are the most liberal of the Protestants and they have religious practices and rituals that are very different from more traditional denominations like Baptists or Episcopalians.

It mostly depends on the denomination. Many will sing and play music, from organs to electric Guitars, as a form of worship. In myriad churches there is a greeting time, where members of the congregation get out of their seats and shake hands with those around them. The lead pastor of the church will usually go up to the front and teach out of scripture. Communion is done often as well.

They partake of the bread and wine (or Grape Juice, in many churches). There are several ways of doing this. One is for the lay leaders of the church to distribute nits of the bread and small cups of wine to the attendees in their pews. Another is for the attendees to come forward, tear off a piece of bread from a roll, and then dip it in a large cup of juice.

Short answer: we have Mass.

Long answer: we sing a Jesus song in the beginning then we say a prayer then we sit and listen to the readings and psalms then we have the Gospel, then we have Holy Communion, then we sit and say another prayer then we leave. It all raps up in about an hour or a half an hour.

p.s. We sing Jesus songs throughout the whole Mass.

Catholic AnswerRoman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is rarely used by the Catholic Church.

.

I'm afraid that the first thing most Catholics do when they get into Church is talk, and not to God! What we should be doing is:

recollect yourself of a moment before opening the door, and realize that you are stepping out of the world into another world altogether, you are about to come face to face with God Almighty.

.

When you step into the Church, you take some holy water on your fingers and bless yourself, this is to remind yourself of your baptism, and how you are no longer just another person on the road, you are now a child of God.

.

Walk down the aisle to the pew, and genuflect to the tabernacle. This is where Our Blessed Lord, Incarnate, remains a prisoner out of love for you - and remains there every minute of every day, day in and day out, just waiting for you to show up and talk to him.

.

Go into the pew, and kneel in silent adoration and prayer. Thank God for being there for you. Thank God that you are here at all. Recollect yourself, and prepare yourself for Mass.

.

That is what we should all be doing when we come into a Church, but sadly, myself included, few of us do every time, and Our Blessed Lord's heart must be breaking when He has gone through so much and waits up there just for you!

Do protestants have an altar in their church?

Yes and no. The table of worship focus is called either an altar or a communion table. Some sanctuaries have both. "Altar" originally meant a place for sacrifice. While important, for Protestants the hope of the resurrection takes precedence, and Christ's ongoing presence is symbolized by Holy Communion, or the Eucharist.

What are the two ordinaces of god in the Bible?

The two main ordinances of God in the Bible are baptism and communion. Baptism is a symbolic act of purification and commitment to Christ, while communion is a remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice through the sharing of bread and wine. Both ordinances hold significant spiritual importance for Christian believers.

What do you call the communion table in a church?

In Catholic Churches (and some other denominations) they call it the 'altar'. However, the term 'altar' suggests a sacrifice, as per the altar at the Temple in Jerusalem. in the Catholic Church, they believe that the sacrifice of Jesus is reenacted at each mass (communion service) , and therefore, for the, the term 'altar' is appropriate. The protestant churches, however, tend to follow scripture more and regard Jesus's sacrifice as a once-for-all sacrifice, as per Paul's teaching. Therefore they tend to call it simply the Communion Table or even the Lord's Table.

The Christians who protested Catholic teachings came to be known as?

Protestants by definition protest some Catholic teachings. The various branches of Protestantism broke away from the Catholic Church in the 1500s. Eastern Orthodox churches broke away earlier after disagreements over doctrine, so could also be said to "protest" some Catholic teachings, although Orthodox and Catholic churches are often said to be "in communion" with each other, which cannot be said of Catholic and Protestant Churches.
