That is an unbelievably loaded question! I can answer from my perspective. Plant Stem Cells could very well be the next medical evolution in the US. They are proving to be the perfect synergy between traditional medicine and the "natural/organic" trend that people are moving towards. In short. Plant Stems Cells have the uncanny ability to actually specialize within the human body. This means that stem cells from certain plants can actually help with cells that regulate the immunity, or they can detoxify and rejuvenate kidney, liver, lung and even brain issue. The trick is know which plant stem cells work best with which systems or tissues in the body. Then knowing the chemical makeup in the plants to help balance body chemistry to optimize the running of the entire body. In terms of healthcare treatments and preventative health. Some religions (notably Catholics and evangelical Protestants) are opposed to using embryonic stem cells, because they believe even a cell is potential life and must not be destroyed for the purpose of doing research. These religious groups, however, generally approve of the use of adult stem cells, which are taken from the person's own body and do not result in a cell being destroyed.
The problem is that most scientists believe adult stem cells have far less potential than embryonic stem cells, since embryonic cells are more adaptable. That said, stem cell research (whether embryonic or not) is still in its early stages. These cells show great potential for repairing damaged tissues in the body and thus curing diseases or improving the quality of life for those who have spinal cord injuries, Diabetes, and Parkinson's.
