According to Shia Islam the first 3 of them have not been legimate Caliphs. because in Shia Islam Caliph is representative of God on earth and only God has the right to select his representative according to Quran. and God did not elect those first 3.

∙ 14y agoThe first four caliphs each kind of...replaced Muhammad. For example:
After Muhammad died, Abu Bakr took over.
After Abu Bakr died, Omar took over.
After Omar died Uthman took over.
And after Uthman died, Ali took over.
(Muhammad was not a caliph. These caliphs took over because they were elected. Some were against the electing, and those who opposed of this have, I believe, murdered the third caliph...which created a civil war.)
