What do the new atheists insist?

The New Atheists as a group make several major points about society that private atheists do not generally make on the public stage, but usually ascribe to as well. These include:

• Keeping church and state separate, removing religion from public schools, and removing government fiscal or representational benefits for religions
• Promoting decision-making exclusively on rational processes and evidence-based procedures
• Criticizing the malevolent outcomes that can be ascribed to religion
• Criticizing the foundational beliefs of religions to the degree that they are based on faith
  
• Arguing that Atheists deserve the same social, political, and economic rights as other people in society
• Pushing for ethical and moral treatment of various minority groups and opposing bigotry

The term "new atheists" or "strong atheists" is an invention of the theists. As far as can be determined it means "Atheists who won't keep their mouths shut when we insult them and demand to be treated with respect." This is similar to "liberated women", "uppity coloureds", "rebellious teens", or "flamboyant LBGTs". All these groups feel they have a right to be treated as an equal part of society and insist they have a right to work towards that end.
