if your 1997 super duty is a diesel there is no catalictic converter if it is gas, then it is in the exhaust will look just like a muffler
Crawl under the vehicle and look up at the exhaust system. The catalytic converter is the first part that looks like a muffler mounted in the exhaust system coming rearward from the engine.
By find, if you mean on the vehicle, then simply get down on your hands and knees and look under the vehicle and you will see the catalytic converter. It is located where the exhaust pipe comes out of the engine and enters the converter.
Look under the car and count them.
