You need to let the dog know that you are the boss. Make him do what you tell him. You don't need to beat him, but you need to be in charge. Dogs are pack animals and follow a pecking order. There is always an alpha dog and you need to be the alpha dog.

∙ 14y agoYou should try giving the dog treats From a different viewpoint, DO NOT give it treats if it isn't listening. That just won't do anything but tell it, "If I don't listen, i get treats!" My dog has the exact same problem. And it isn't that he just doesn't understand, it is that he DELIBERATELY doesn't listen. I wish I could help you more, but I am still trying to find out.

∙ 12y agoFirst of all, you must be firm with your dog no matter what because it will eventually turn to you for everything. Carry treats so your dog knows that "ok well if i listen i get a treat" you want to let your dog know your in control.
