Quarks are fundamental particles, and three of them make up the particle group we call the baryons. The two common baryons we encounter are the proton and the neutron, which are composite particles made of of three quarks each. The proton is composed of two up quarks and a down quark, and the neutron is composed of two down quarks and an up quark. Baryons, along with mesons, are a part of the hadron family of particles. Compounds, that's how it's called
The neutron is called the neutron because it it electrically neutral, hence the neu- prefix
Particles in an atoms nucleus which do not have electric charge are Neutrons.
Nitrogen and oxygen together can form a couple of compounds. 1. Nitric Oxide, or nitrogen monoxide, is composed of one nitrogen and one oxygen. 2. Nitrous Oxide, or laughing gas, is composed of two nitrogen and one oxygen.
