electron cloud
Chromosomes are where DNA is found. These are found in many cells in what we call the nucleus. Other cells don't have a true nucleus but they do have chromosomes.
The parts of the atom found outside the nucleus would be the electrons, or positrons if the nucleus of the atom is made of antimatter. The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle shows us though that the electrons aren't found just in the space outside the nucleus, but in a probabilistic cloud, partly inside the nucleus.
The electrical charge that attracts or repels the electrons to the nucleus is what holds the electrons in position. When energy is added to a group of atoms, they excite and the electrons move further out from the center or nucleus of the atom structure this range of movement cannot be exactly tracked so scientist call it shells for noting the "area" the electron may be at a point in time.

do you mean outside of a nucleus?if so, electronsAnother AnswerIf we were small enough to see the individual parts of an atom, outside the atom would be more space. As we get larger, heading back to our own size, at a certain scale we would see the atom's vibration and ripples in space turn into the molecular boundary. As we continue to return to our normal size, we would see the billions of atoms in a cubic mm. As we reach our normal size, we would see the normal world which is made up from the countless number of molecules/atoms arraigned in incredible combinations.
The electron cloud. An electron cloud is a volume or region in the atom where it is likely to find or detect an electron. It is actually really hard to detect an electron because an atom is mostly empty space, electrons are orbiting the nucleus at almost the speed of light so they orbit really fast, the electrons are very tiny and may be point like since we don't really know the volume or size of the electron, and an atom in reality is 3 dimensional which the electron cloud and orbitals is 3 dimensional. Since electrons are so hard to detect then they would call this volume or region of the atom an electron cloud because the electron cloud is a volume or region where they know that electrons are likely to be there even if they are hard to find. Or maybe the electron cloud is where they can also know the different sub- orbitals or subshells of the electrons.
You think probable to the overlapping area.
Bacteria belong to a group called prokaryotes which have no membrane bound genetic material (a nucleus).
What we call the K shell is only part of space nearest the nucleus in which the probability for an electron's being found is the biggest. In that shell, the energy of electrons is the lowest, and that is why electrons will spend most time there, because only two electrons can be in that position at the same time, while the rest of them have to be placed in higher shells.
