If you can't get to a doctor quickly, people suggest you put ice on it for a while. Even though ice is usually pretty uncomfortable to some, it helps.
Also, take all pressure off of it for 5 minutes, then wrap a warm or cold (whatever is more comfortable) wash cloth or paper towel around it pretty tightly for 5 minutes. Repeat until you get to a doctor or it begins to stop throbbing good luck!
