You could ask friend to watch over it for a while until you come back. If you do that make a list of things your friend needs to do to take care of the pool, and leave all the supplies that they need in a handy place where they can find it easily. if you don't want your friend to come over, you can cover it like you do during the winter, or you could just let it run and take care of any problems that may occur when you come back. My best bet would be go with the friend. If they have any problems they can call you, and you won't have to deal with any pool problems when you come back. If you are moving, make sure a neighbor or friend knows how to take care of the pool to teach the new neighbors how to take care of it until they got it down. If they already know how to take care of the pool, disregard the previous sentence.Hope this helps!!!:) Make sure the hinges and latch on your pool barrier are actually self-closing and self-latching. Lock your latches before you leave and leave a key with the neighbor or friend mentioned in the previous answer. Inspect the rest of the barrier to make sure there are no breaches were a child can get through. The pool cover sounds like a good idea as well. If your gate is not currently self-closing and self-latching you need to bring the gate up to code. I recommend the Magna Latch and Tru Close Hinges.
Yes because they should keep bugs and leaves out of your pool's water while you're gone on vacation.
