this is a very complicated prociedure.
you will need a soldering iron, a Nintendo screwdriver and plyers
you need to remove the bottom shell of the ds revealing the mother board. then you will see two small fuses(looks like a 2 mm pice of wire ) they will be labled f1 or f2, if the fuses are blown then you need to replace them, first grab wire cut it to the same length remove the old one. then put the new one in the same position
if this doesnt work here is a link for a 5 dollar charger for the original ds

simply remove the battery from the ds and put it in the charger
Note this is for the ds original

If this is an extra charger that did NOT come with your DS/DS Lite, then it will wear out extremely easily. I know this from experience. But if it DID come with your DS/DS Lite, than you may or may not have charged it more than 500-550 times. Trust me, its in the manual.
Check if
The battery charges in another DS if possible. If it does the DS charge circuit is likely fault. Get an external DS battery charger (if DS runs on charged battery ok).
The DS charges with a different charger. If so - the original charger has failed - replace.
The DS charges with a different battery in it. The battery has failed - replace.
If your warranty is still intact (which it probably isn't if you still own the original Nintendo DS), take it to the retailer where you bought it with your receipt and have them send it in. If not, take it pretty much anywhere (reliable and legal though, please) and pay to have them fix it.
There is a problem with either your DSi battery or charger. After about 500-650 charges your battery starts to die. If you feel that is the case then you can get a new battery for about $15 on nintendo online store. In case your charger is faulty, try to get a hold of another charger and test it. If none of that works then it could be faulty wireing in your dsi or the connecter. If that's the case, send it to Nintendo and they should be able to fix it. (Remember to move all data to an SD card to prevent loss and keep the card with you)
I would try unscrewing the back of your DSi and taking out the battery. Wait 10 or more seconds and then put it back in. If that doesn't work then youve hit 500 charges.U cant do more than that.
It depends on how long you have had it. You need to probably replace the battery or see if there is some other problem
If your DS isn't turning on, it might be dead or it got wet. If you know its not either of those, ask your local game store.
take out your charger and charge it up
One of the fuses (F1 or F2) is blown. You have to open up the DS to fix it
You will have to charge it with the Nintendo DS charger.
Check to see if the battery is securely placed. If it is, then plug the DS into the charger and connect to an outlet. Then it should charge up and work.
Charge up your Nintendo
Yes there are available stands that will charge your Nintendo Ds unit as you play such as the Charge Boy Ds.
It will work on Nintendo ds lite, Nintendo dsi and on the 3ds. It wont be in 3d though
personally i would prefer a Nintendo ds lite as it takes less time to charge, its easier to hold and once you charge it lasts for a lot longer then a psp. i also prefer the Nintendo ds games
The Nintendo DS - Accessory Bundle - 17 in 1 Bundle Pak includes a waterproof case for your Nintendo DS.
