Once people have split-up then they are free to date who they want, but dating a friend's ex could be tricky in many ways:
You should come right out and tell your friend you are interested in her ex. She may have a problem with it because they had a personal relationship and she doesn't want her private relationship with him spread to you and I can't say I blame her. Then again, if the guy is decent and you don't bug him with questions about your best friend all should go well.
Your friend has split up with him for a reason and you are going to get warnings about what a bad guy he is, etc.
At some point if things do go well for you with your friend's ex, she may have a flash of a moment where she becomes jealous and can cause all kinds of problems for you.
If you are just slightly interested in this young man, then I would move on. If you've liked him for a long time, then talk to your friend about it and date him.
Never let a man/women come between you and your best friend.

AnswerIts a free for all once two people break up. If your best friend has a problem with it talk to him/her and explain your feelings and that you want to be happy. If they just arent happy with it then tough for them. They obviously don't care about your happiness. A true friend would want their friend to be happy no matter what.Wiki User

Don't worry about what they think. You can also forget about that guy and find another guy that you like or you can go out with the guys best friend and say how does it feel now.
