It grows back people. Unless its infected a doctor cant do anything for your dog. How do I know because my dogs both ripped their skin off their paws, the black part. It literally fell off. It just heals like your skin would in fact it looks just like new....I also soaked it in Epsom salt as recommended by the doctor. So unless it's infected don't waste your money....Oh and in case you're wondering do I walk my dog? My vet said yes but limit to about 10 minutes at a time and put a sock over their paw to protect it from debri. I put a soft cotton foam and a sock over it and he was fine. Oh, one more thing if you're going to put Neosporin or any other form of antibiotic ointment on your dog's paw watch them real good, because my vet said ingesting it can do more harm than their injury. She didn't recommend it.....
Rub a solution of salt and water onto the leg. The next time the dog licks it, it will be its last time.

Salty water may not deter a dog from licking. It is advisable to see a vet so they can check for any injuries, ticks or fleas. Some dogs will lick themselves because of a behavioral problem: Usually when stressed or bored.
Hi im a vetrenarian and face those problems every day so dont be alarmed. You should take her to the vet or you can put vinegar on her leg or wrap it with plastic like the one you use to cover food.

Dogs sometimes lick their paws because they have Allergies and their paws itch. This is usually the case when the dog is also biting at their paws. Dogs are able to take the medicine Benedryl. You should talk to your veterinarian about specific dosing instructions.
If your dogs stops licking and chewing on its paws then the most likely reason is that your dog is allergic to something.
The most comfortable solution for your dog would probably be to wrap her paw so it can begin to heal. They have bandages made especially for pets at Petsmart/Petco that are small and easy to use. Depending on the size of your pet, you could also place a sock of that paw and wrap the ankle/leg. An e-collar is also an option... Make sure to clean the paw regularly with a mild soap and water or sterile solution. Paws can get dirty and infected very easily. If it's a habit licking, it can be better controlled after it's healed. Good luck.
Rinse the dogs mouth out thoroughly and make sure to disinfect their paw. Also cover it to prevent infection.
The plural of paw is paws. As in "the dog licked her paws".
the kitten
yes it does, that is why you often see them licking their wounds.e.g if your dog cut his paw, by the time you have got all your first aid supplies, our dog would of licked it clean and it would be starting to heal.
