It's really not that big of a deal for short times, but if it's for a long time (ex. 1 month), you might have a small problem. If you explain to him next time you talk to him that you were grounded and you wish you could have talked to him, he should understand and if he doesn't then just apologize, because that might be all he's looking for. So next time you get the chance, just tell him what happened and it'll work out.
