i have a numb tonuge
The tongue.
Four taste sensations: bitter (back of the tongue) sweet (tip of the tongue) salty (tip of the tongue) sour (sides of the tongue)
The four basic kinds of tastes are: sweet, salty, sour and bitter. The salty/sweet taste buds are located near the front of the tongue; the sour taste buds line the sides of the tongue; and the bitter taste buds are found at the very back of the tongue. The center of the tongue has few taste buds. Babies have more taste buds than older children and adults. Not only do babies have taste buds on the tongue, but also on the sides and roof of the mouth. Taste buds disappear from the sides and roof of the mouth as a baby gets older, leaving taste buds mostly on the tongue.
Taste is one of the five senses, it uses sensory impressions of food or other substances on the tongue. The taste buds on the tongue help the person taste the food.
the tip of the tongue
The reason you can't taste anything is because your tongue is most likely infected. You should seek professional medical treatment for this. Tongue piercings can be very serious and if they get infected they can rot and decay until nothings left. The symptoms are as follows: Food has little or no taste, tongue is swollen/abnormally large, tongue goes numb at random or is numb for extended periods of time, and hemorrhaging of the taste buds.
it depends on your taste budds

Numbness is definitely not normal. I suggest that you go and see a doctor to figure out what is going on.
No
taste budds i think
Well your taste buds (over 10,000 on average) don't go numb. You may loose a couple due to the piercing but the taste buds themselves regenerate. Case in point: Eat a bag of Salt & Vinegar potato chips then look at your tongue, you will see great flat spots over areas of the tongue, "missing taste buds". Discharge and other healing processes can play games during the initial healing period, this is not limited to messing with your sense of taste.
well, i burnt my tongue taste testing some caramel sauce a while ago. most of my tongue was numb for a while, then the tastebuds enlarged and turned white. Then they fell off and new ones generated. Give it a week you'll be fine.
There could be several reasons why your taste buds are numb and you can't taste anything right now. Some of these reasons include burning mouth syndrome, trauma, paresthesia, anesthesia, stroke, tumor or certain medication.
yes , if you want to get your tongue numb
Well my tongue isn't half numb, however if your tongue is half numb I would suggest you direct your question to a specialist IE Ear, Nose and Throat "ENT" or a *Neurologist (*specialist in neurological disorders). You have some form of issue with the neuro-receptors / nerves feeding the tongue.
